Paul was born and raised in the Netherlands and moved to the USA in 2006. He has 5 Dutch National Championships and 6 US National Championships as a sport kite flier and kite builder. In October 2018, he was selected to represent the Netherlands in the World Sport Kite Challenge in Bintulu, Malaysia where he placed 2nd in the musical routine. Paul also competed in 'pairs competition' at the World Kite Cup in Berck-Sur Mer, France (April 2024).
